Description
White sage leaves are highly aromatic and come from a shrub comprised of medium to large leaves, averaging 7 to 10 centimetres long and generally elliptical to lanceolate in shape. They are used as a cleansing and purifying herb to break negative feelings. They are also a sacred herb to many indigenous tribes in the Southwest of America and northwest of Mexico.
What else is white sage best used for?
Interestingly enough, white sage leaves can also be used to make tea. In Native American culture, brewed white sage tea can decrease sweating, salivation, and milk secretions. It can also help with mucous secretions in the sinuses, throat, and lungs. Tea made from the leaves also has diuretic and diaphoretic properties.
In summary, more traditional uses of white sage were medicinal, such as making tea as an eyewash, decongestant, and treatment for colds and coughs.
