THE PRACTICE
A Deeper Kind of Rest
Restorative Yoga is a gentle practice centred on supported stillness. Bolsters, blankets and other props help you settle into carefully arranged postures without unnecessary muscular effort.
Unlike more active forms of yoga, the practice uses a small selection of positions held for longer periods. As a result, there is time to adjust each posture and explore a comfortable sense of support.
The emphasis is not on stretching further or achieving a particular shape. Instead, the practice invites you to explore rest through considered positioning and an unhurried pace.
SUPPORT · AWARENESS · CHOICE
The Art of Support
During your private restorative yoga session, your practitioner prepares each posture with attention to your individual comfort.
Small adjustments to the height, angle or placement of a bolster or blanket can change how a position feels. Therefore, you have time to explore suitable support before settling into stillness.
Gentle breath awareness and guided meditation complement the postures, allowing you to experience the practice without forcing a particular outcome.
You may change position, request additional support or leave a posture at any time.
The practice adapts to you, not the other way around.

QUESTIONS
Questions about Restorative Yoga
Do I need previous yoga experience?
No. Your practitioner introduces each posture and provides individual guidance throughout. Previous yoga experience is not required.
Do I need to be flexible?
No. Restorative Yoga does not require you to achieve particular shapes or deep stretches. Props help you find suitable, supported positions.
What if I cannot lie comfortably on the floor?
Please mention this during your consultation. We can consider alternative positioning and support. If floor-based practice is unsuitable, we can discuss whether another Orenna experience would be more appropriate.
How is Restorative Yoga different from Yin Yoga?
Restorative Yoga uses extensive support to minimise unnecessary muscular effort and encourage comfortable rest.
By comparison, Yin Yoga generally involves longer-held postures with an adjustable degree of stretching sensation.
Both are unhurried practices, but their methods and emphasis differ.
