Your practice can change as you do
A Practice That Moves with You
Pregnancy brings change, and your yoga practice can respond to it.
Prenatal Yoga offers an individually adapted approach to movement, breath awareness and meditation. Each experience considers your comfort, preferences and stage of pregnancy.
At Orenna Wellness, we begin by understanding your individual circumstances. During your consultation, you can discuss your previous yoga experience, relevant physical considerations and any guidance from your midwife or maternity team.
Your session may include gentle movement, supported postures, comfortable transitions and opportunities for rest. We select each element according to your individual requirements.
Breath awareness and guided meditation complement the movement practice. Meanwhile, your sensory preferences help shape the environment, including lighting, sound and optional fragrance.
There is no expectation to maintain a particular level of activity, achieve specific postures or experience pregnancy in a prescribed way.
The Guided Experience
Movement with Consideration
Prenatal Yoga recognises that comfort, movement and energy levels may change throughout pregnancy.
Your individual requirements guide the selection of movements and postures. We can adjust their range, pace and positioning according to your circumstances and any relevant maternity guidance.
SUPPORTED MOVEMENT
Chairs, bolsters, blankets and blocks offer different forms of support. Depending on your needs, the experience may include standing, seated, side-lying or other suitable positions.
The practice avoids unnecessary strain and movements that compromise comfort or balance. We also consider positioning carefully, including avoiding prolonged flat-back rest where pregnancy guidance advises against it.
BREATH AND MEDITATION
Gentle breath awareness complements the movement practice without prolonged breath-holding, forced breathing or demanding techniques.
Guided meditation offers time to explore stillness in a comfortable position. You may choose to remain seated, recline with appropriate support or use another suitable arrangement.
Throughout your experience, you can rest, change position, request adjustments or omit any element.
The intention is not to achieve a particular posture or prepare your body for a specific birth outcome.
Instead, each session offers an attentive yoga experience that responds to your individual circumstances.

QUESTIONS
Questions About Prenatal Yoga
Do I need previous yoga experience?
No. Previous yoga experience is not required. We introduce movements gradually and adapt the practice according to your experience, comfort and individual circumstances. If you are new to exercise, we will consider a gentle starting approach alongside any relevant advice from your maternity team.
At what stage of pregnancy can I attend?
We consider suitability individually rather than applying a universal starting week. During your consultation, please tell us how many weeks pregnant you are and share any relevant guidance from your midwife or maternity team. We can then discuss the proposed experience, any necessary modifications and whether postponement or further professional advice may be appropriate.
Can I attend if my pregnancy is considered high-risk?
Please consult your midwife or maternity team before requesting an appointment. Some pregnancy-related or medical circumstances may require additional precautions or make certain activities unsuitable. Orenna does not provide obstetric assessment or determine medical suitability for exercise. We may need to postpone or decline an appointment when appropriate participation cannot be established.
Will I need to lie on my back?
No. Prolonged flat-back positioning is not required. We can explore seated, side-lying or other appropriately supported positions according to your stage of pregnancy, comfort and relevant maternity guidance.
Will the practice involve strong stretching or difficult postures?
No. This experience does not focus on deep stretching or challenging postures. Movements reflect your individual circumstances, with attention to comfortable range, balance and appropriate support. You may request adjustments, rest or omit any movement whenever necessary.
Will I be taught breathing techniques for labour?
Your experience includes gentle breath awareness appropriate to the proposed yoga practice. It does not replace antenatal education, clinical breathing guidance or advice from your maternity team. We do not impose specific breathing techniques or include prolonged breath-holding and forced breathing.
Are aromas and herbal teas included?
Aromas are entirely optional, and you may request a fragrance-free environment. Water is always available. We do not assume that a herbal tea or essential oil is suitable simply because it is natural. Any proposed ingredients must be considered individually, and we will avoid offering them when suitability is uncertain. Please tell us about relevant allergies, sensitivities or ingredient-related advice from your maternity team. Water or another suitable alternative can be offered.
What if I feel unwell during the session?
Please tell us immediately if you feel unwell or experience dizziness, faintness, unusual breathlessness, pain or another concerning symptom. We will stop the practice and help you seek appropriate medical advice or urgent assistance according to the circumstances. Your wellbeing takes priority over completing the appointment.
Can I continue the practice at home?
Following your appointment, you receive personalised electronic practice notes with selected movements, positioning guidance and practical suggestions considered appropriate for independent practice. As your pregnancy progresses, your requirements may change. Follow any new guidance from your maternity team and discontinue movements that become uncomfortable or unsuitable. The notes are not a substitute for individual maternity advice.
