DISCOVER CHAIR & ADAPTIVE YOGA
Yoga That Begins with You
Individual movement, considered support and freedom of choice.
Chair & Adaptive Yoga offers a flexible approach to movement. Each experience considers your individual abilities, preferences and comfort rather than following a fixed sequence.
You may explore yoga while seated, standing with suitable support or combining different positions. A chair can provide a stable base, while props and alternative movements offer further options where appropriate.
There is no single approach that suits everyone. Instead, we consider how to introduce, modify or replace movements to create an experience relevant to you.
At Orenna Wellness, private adaptive yoga in Inverness combines mindful movement, gentle breath awareness and guided meditation. A personally considered sensory environment complements the practice.
Individual preparation allows time to explore movement, rest, ask questions and make choices throughout your appointment.
You never need to achieve a particular posture or move in a prescribed way.
Your practice begins with your possibilities, preferences and choices.
The Guided Experience
Movement with Choice
Adaptive Yoga recognises that everyone experiences movement differently.
Your consultation helps us understand your preferred positions, available range of movement, comfort and relevant requirements before preparing the session.
The experience may include gentle movements of the arms, shoulders, spine and legs, depending on what is appropriate for you. We can adjust the range, direction, pace or position of each movement and include rest whenever needed.
Chairs, blocks, cushions, blankets and other props offer different forms of support. Standing movements may also be an option, but they are never a requirement.
Gentle breath awareness and guided meditation complement the movement practice. Breathing remains natural and comfortable, without demanding techniques or pressure to achieve a particular result.
Throughout your session, you can communicate preferences, request adjustments or omit movements that do not feel appropriate.
Progress is not measured by how far you move or which postures you complete.
Instead, the experience offers an opportunity to explore yoga through individual attention, appropriate support and meaningful choice.

QUESTIONS
Questions About Chair & Adaptive Yoga
Is Chair & Adaptive Yoga only for older adults?
No. This experience is not defined by age. Chair & Adaptive Yoga may appeal to anyone who prefers a seated or supported approach, requires modifications or wishes to explore yoga through individual guidance. Your preferences and requirements shape the practice, rather than assumptions about age or ability.
Do I have to use a chair throughout the experience?
No. A chair is one possible form of support. Depending on your preferences and requirements, the experience may combine seated movements with suitable standing positions. Moving from a chair to the floor is never a requirement.
Can I participate if I use a wheelchair?
Please discuss your requirements during your consultation.
Where appropriate, we can explore practising from your own wheelchair and consider movements suited to your positioning, comfort and available range of movement.
The studio has wide doorways, but the toilet is not wheelchair-accessible. We will discuss access, positioning and any assistance requirements before confirming your appointment.
This allows us to establish whether the experience and facilities can accommodate your individual needs.
What if I have limited mobility or cannot perform certain movements?
Individual adaptations may include smaller movements, alternative positions and additional support. You never need to complete a movement simply because it appears in a conventional yoga sequence. Please share relevant requirements during your consultation so we can consider suitable options in advance.
Will I need to stand, kneel or get down onto the floor?
No. Standing, kneeling and floor-based positions are not requirements. We can prepare your experience around suitable seated or supported positions and discuss any proposed changes with you beforehand.
Can I attend if I have a medical condition or am recovering from an injury?
Suitability depends on your individual circumstances and the requirements of the proposed practice. Please share relevant movement restrictions and any advice you have received from a healthcare professional during your consultation. Where appropriate, we may suggest seeking further professional advice before participating. Orenna provides yoga and wellbeing experiences, not medical assessment, rehabilitation or physiotherapy.
Will someone assist me with transfers or personal care?
Please discuss any transfer or personal-care requirements before booking. Orenna does not provide manual handling, personal care or specialist transfer assistance as a standard part of a yoga appointment. We will discuss any necessary arrangements and whether the experience can be accommodated appropriately before confirming your booking.
Can I stop or change a movement during the session?
Yes. You may pause, request an adjustment, change position or omit a movement at any time. Your comfort, consent and individual choices remain central to the experience.
Can I continue the practice at home?
Following your appointment, you receive personalised electronic practice notes with selected movements, positioning guidance and practical suggestions considered appropriate for independent practice. These notes reflect your individual session. They do not replace medical or rehabilitation advice.
